A NOWRA man found guilty of assaulting a woman after a breaking into her house in East Nowra, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault has been sentenced three years and six months jail.
Steven Michael Ogden, 35, of Young Avenue, Nowra appeared before Judge Chris Hoy in Nowra District Court.
In evidence before the court, police said Ogden went to a Wallace Street address on November 19 last year, forced his way into the house and assaulted a woman.
Judge Hoy found Ogden guilty of aggravated break and enter to commit an indictable offence, sentencing him to three years six months, with a non-parole period of two years and six months.
He was also found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and sentenced to two years and four months jail, with a non-parole period of one year and two months.
He was also found guilty of common assault and sentenced to a fixed term of six months.
All sentences are partly concurrently and partly cumulative.
Ogden was also convicted of driving while suspended and drive a vehicle, losing traction with Judge Hoy not imposing further penalties, but noted the automatic disqualification period would apply.
While in jail Ogden has been ordered to undertake counselling and treatment for substance and alcohol abuse and anger management and take part in the Violent Offender Therapeutic and Getting Smart Programs.
