Joshua Chamberlain, 19, of McKay Street, Nowra and Wade Malcolm Dunley, 39, of Bunberra Street, Bomaderry both pleaded guilty to the charge of aggravated assault with intent to rob with wounding/grievous bodily harm.
The pair appeared in Nowra District Court late Thursday afternoon before Judge Chris Hoy, who took verbal and written submissions from both the Department of Public Prosecutions and defence lawyers.
He said he would consider the written submission overnight and would hand down the sentence on Friday.
Sitting just metres away from his attackers, bashing victim Mr Beugels, studied both men intently as they made their way into the court.
Chamberlain and Dunley sat in the dock during the short proceedings, with Chamberlain regularly placing his head in his hands.
DPP solicitor Robert Taylor said a victim impact statement from Mr Beugels would be read to the court prior to sentencing.
Bail was not applied for and formally refused and they were remanded in custody to the South Coast Correctional Centre.
Mr Beugels was 76 at the time of the attack while on an evening walk in North Nowra on August 25, 2013.
He was punched to the ground, had his head pushed into a concrete gutter and stomped on and his wallet stolen.
