The value management workshop for the Nowra Bridge project saw technical experts and project stakeholders develop a way forward for the crossing.
Participants assessed five shortlisted.
The workshop recommended RMS address traffic concerns at the intersections at Bolong, Illaroo and Bridge roads as part of the new crossing.
RMS project staff, technical specialists, community representatives Rebecca Grills and Ian Henry and key government and non-government agencies took part in the workshop.
While welcoming the recommendation, Shoalhaven Mayor Joanna Gash said it was still only a recommendation.
“A final decision hasn’t been made, this is the recommendation from the workshop,” she said.
“Council wasn’t involved in the process, we had staff present, and this was the workshop’s preferred option.
“How it will work? Where it will be located and what sort of land acquisitions will have to be made are yet to be decided.
“Naturally, I would like to see it happen sooner rather than later and it is good recommendations are starting to take shape.
“It is important for council a decision be made and then we can start planning how it will impact the city.
“At least it is moving. We will have to wait and see what comes of the recommendation and a final decision on the location.”
A report summarising the workshop findings and the assessment of the five options will soon be available on the project website.
