The game kicked off with Dennis McKeveney taking out the first end by one shot with a perfect dead draw with the last bowl.
The second end was again looking good for Dennis but his opponent Rod Orford wanted to be in the game as well and with a magical delivery gently picked the jack and clinched the end by one shot.
Dennis kept the pressure on with medium length play and absolute concentration stretching his lead to 15 – 2.
Rod managed to regain the mat and went on to win the next six ends in a row bringing his score to within two of Dennis with the scoreboard showing 15 – 13 in Dennis’s favour.
By end 22 the scoreboard read Dennis 18 – 17 then 23 – 22 at end 29.
With both players desperately searching for a knockout blow, the gallery kept building up inside the clubhouse and cheering the players on.
Dennis persisted with medium length play and precision dead draws finally taking the game out with a final score of 32 – 23 and the championship was his.
Congratulations to Dennis on winning the championship and a big thank you to both players for a truly wonderful exhibition of consistent bowling and for keeping the gallery entertained.
