The final 12 photographs that will make up the calendar will be announced this week.
The Rotary clubs of Nowra, Sussex Inlet and Milton Ulladulla have joined forces to sell Shoalhaven calendars to raise funds.
The calendars will be created from the winning entries in an amateur photographic competition titled Shoalhaven Through My Lens.
Three local photographers judged the images each month. Last Thursday the final judging took place.
Co-ordinator Julie Ludlow was impressed with the way the judges worked their way through the entries.
“To be honest I didn’t quite know what to expect when we asked people to send in their photos, but I think 147 was a good number,” she said.
“I was impressed with the dispersion of entries across the Shoalhaven.
“I was also impressed with how consistent the judges were. It was good to sit with them for the final judging and get an understanding of why they chose what they did.
“It was not just on technical issues, they looked at a having a range of colour throughout the calendar as well as variety in the types of images,” she said.
Photographer and judge Andy Hutchinson was also impressed with the number and quality of entries.
“I thought they were pretty good and it improved as the competition went on,” he said.
“I know there are some excellent amateur photographers out there. It was great to see such a large geographic spread.
“There was a large number of landscapes, though. It would have been nice to have some more people, often if there was a landscape with a person in it that would catch our eye.”
