The evening acknowledged the hard working volunteers of the club and the important work they undertake in the community throughout the busy summer period.
Major award winners were Chad Poland for the Nowra Culburra Surf Life Saving Club Person of the Year, Dale Glenan and Stephanie Francis for Cadets of the Year, Junior Cadet of the Year was won by Dylan Anderson, and Patrol of the Year was taken out by Patrol Five, captained by Colin Pakes.
The night also acknowledged the achievements the club has obtained at branch and country championship levels and state and national levels, as well as former club members who continue to represent the values instilled by the Nowra Culburra Life Saving Club, such as surfing champions Owen Wright and Tyler Wright.
The night was also a chance for the club to acknowledge the retirement of club president Roger Mearns, who has served in that role for over 20 years.
Throughout Mearns’ tenure in the role, he has seen the Nowra Culburra Surf Life Saving Club grow significantly, with extensive renovations to the club house and the club reaching upwards of 350 members and 200 nippers.
