The work will start on Monday, May 26 and will involve the removal of pavers and construction of a concrete ramp at the eastern end of Junction Court.
It will also include the installation of an asphalt overlay at the intersection of O’Connell Lane and Junction Court.
The project was designed to allow for the easy closure of Junction Court for full pedestrian access during special events while enabling the existing taxi rank to remain in its current location.
Last year, Shoalhaven City Council confirmed Junction Court would be opened to eastbound traffic.
Shoalhaven Mayor Joanna Gash said the project design would allow Junction Court to be used as a meeting space given that the road would only take up a small part of the mall.
“Council has extensively engaged with local businesses in regards to the upcoming works to open Junction Court to traffic,” Cr Gash said.
“All efforts will be made to minimise disruptions to businesses throughout the construction period.”
The project is expected to take about four weeks to complete.
