He will also be spruiking his own new book, which he hopes Shoalhaven readers will not hate.
“Mining My Own Business” is a comedic account of life as a fly-in-fly-out mine worker, based on the author’s personal experience “on a mining site somewhere in Australia”.
“It’s a place where everything’s either huge, highly explosive or high vis,” Toby said.
“It’s where expletives are punctuation, a $50 note is loose change, and dinner is steak, steak or barbecue steak.”
His foray into the world of mining was forced by economic necessity.
In 2012, after touring his comedy shows through the UK, he said reviews were positive.
“Budgeting skills were lacking, however, and the end result was a few maxed out credit cards and an empty bank account.”
The author is touring the country with a comedy show to accompany the book.
