Members ride for a worthy cause

LAST Saturday seven SBUG cyclists and one family member joined the ‘Ride Around The Lake’ charity cycle for youth homelessness along with around 500 riders of varying ages and ability.

The day was cold and damp, but the riders spirits were high with the challenge to complete the 40 or 10 kilometre ride for a needy cause. Fortunately the predicted gale force winds didn’t arrive until late in the afternoon, once the ride was over.

Hot food and drinks soon warmed the participants after their cycling efforts.

The cycle path around Lake Illawarra is a great scenic interesting route; varying from suburbia to farmland and parkland, with great views of the water and background mountain ranges.

The organisers ensured the riders safety and comfort, providing clear directions and support, with many enthusiastic volunteers and bike maintenance helpers, as well as entertainment at the finish.

Too bad the weather wasn’t as cheery, but all enjoyed their contribution.
