A large plume of smoke was visible over the city on Thursday afternoon, the result of burns near Wogamia and Bamarang.
Both hazard reduction burns are within strategic fire advantage and land management zones. The aim of the burns is to reduce the volume of naturally accumulated fuels. Reducing the volume of fuels within strategic areas might limit the intensity and rate of spread of any future wildfire. Further information on these hazard reduction burns can be obtained from the NPWS on 4428 6300.
