Police are investigating a fatal crash north of Nowra today.
At about 12.20pm Thursday a Toyota Camry sedan was travelling north on Bolong Road, Bolong, about 4km south west of Nowra, and a Holden Barina sedan was travelling south, when they were involved in a head-on collision.
The Toyota Camry was driven by a 35-year-old man, with a two-year-old male passenger.
The Holden Barina was driven by a 79-year-old man, with a 72-year-old female passenger.
Emergency services were called, however the 79-year-old man died at the scene.
His female passenger suffered critical injuries and was air lifted to St George Hospital.
The 35-year-old man suffered serious injuries and the child suffered minor injuries. They were both taken to Wollongong Hospital.
Crash Investigators are at the scene and continue to investigate the incident.
UPDATE: 3.15pm
One person is dead and two have been seriously injured in the crash on Bolong Road.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said two people were taken to Wollongong Hospital after the crash.
The road remains closed.
1.30pm:
Bolong Road is closed due to a head-on collision between two vehicles just north of the Back Forest Road intersection.
We have very little detail at this stage. One vehicle was believed to be a white sedan.
Emergency services are on scene now.
Motorists are advised to travel via the Princes Highway.
