Stage two of works will include the completion of the purpose built shed at the location on the corner of Terara Road and Nobblers Lane.
Slice of Life Australia (SOLA) founder Karen Anstiss said the project was entering an exciting phase.
“We hope to have the building complete within the next three to four months and can then look forward to beginning a wonderful sustainable living garden,” she said.
“We would like to thank the community and the many people who have contributed to help us to get to this stage.
“It just proves that when many people work together, wonderful things can happen.”
Mrs Anstiss also thanked Member for South Coast Shelley Hancock, who through the community Builders Partnership Program assisted SOLA in getting a grant which will help pay for the shed.
SOLA is a partner in the project with Waminda and recently got grant funding from the Veolia Mulwaree Trust for a security fence to be constructed around the site.
SOLA is a local not for profit charity that offers employment, training and work experience opportunities to people with a disability.
For the past three years it has been establishing its sustainable living program at Terara, where it can expand employment, training and work experience opportunities for people with disabilities in horticulture and animal husbandry.
The project will involve experience with small livestock, growing and harvesting organic vegetables, which will be used by SOLA and its participants.
The business also runs the SOLA general store on Illaroo Road at North Nowra providing a selection of homemade cakes and slices, as well as the Reflections Cafe and Tea Room, which offers after-funeral catering services, within the grounds of the Shoalhaven Memorial Gardens and Lawn Cemetery, at Worrigee.
