An official launch planned for the Mercure Resort, Gerringong by the Sea on May 27 is a public event for the first time this year, giving people another chance to sample the region’s wines.
The move is supported by the Shoalhaven Coast Wine Industry Association, winemakers, food artisans and festival sponsors.
Those attending the festival launch will have one of the first opportunities to sample all the locally grown 2014 vintage wines 11 days before the festival begins.
The event will span the long weekend from June 7 to June 9.
Shoalhaven Coast Winter Wine Festival is quickly earning a reputation as one of the state’s premier food and wine events.
Gerringong artist Barbara Spence’s Life Beneath the Grapevines features on the festival program.
This year, the festival involves 11 wineries – Yarrawa Estate, Roselea Vineyard, Crooked River Wines, Silos Estate and Wileys Creek, Mountain Ridge Wines, Coolangatta Estate, Two Figs Winery, Cambewarra Estate, Cupitt’s Winery, Fern Gully Winery and Bawley Vale Estate.
All cellar doors will be open to the public from 10am to 5pm each day throughout the weekend.
Last year’s 10th anniversary celebration featured a wide range of local food and produce, and a variety of entertainment.
Festival launch tickets are $30, which includes tastings of many of the new vintage wines, finger food and access to the winemakers.
Tickets are available from Mercure Resort, Gerringong by the Sea.
