In a rare occurrence, the Easter and the Anzac Day holidays will run almost back-to-back.
Just three working days, between Easter Monday and Anzac Day, is all that stands between working people and 10 uninterrupted days off.
It’s been more than a decade since this sort of occurrence has eventuated.
Many workers will no doubt try to extend their break, taking leave for those extra three days.
The chance for such a long break is sure to see the area swell with visitors.
And while it is a great opportunity to catch up with family and friends, with the influx of extra traffic on our roads, it is also time to ensure we all act safely and responsibly while driving.
Double demerit points come into force over the Easter long-weekend from midnight Wednesday, with police targeting speeding, seatbelt and helmet offences.
The double demerits will run until midnight Monday.
There will no doubt be extra police on the roads monitoring motorist’s behaviour and where appropriate issuing infringement notices or charges.
Take care on the roads, allow extra time for your journey and above all be patient and enjoy your stay in the beautiful Shoalhaven.
