Waters and Stewart D’Arrietta will perform the acclaimed tribute to Lennon at Milton Theatre on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20 with tickets expected to sell fast.
Waters says his is looking forward to the shows and spending some time in the area.
“This is the little theatre that we loved last time around,” he says.
“We did two shows there before – being smaller tend to book in for two – and it was just beautiful.
“It’s a little community that draws from a wider community so it is always a great audience.
“We love our time there.”
Seeing the country is a big part of the appeal of touring for Waters.
“A great part of touring, while this is our business, is we get to see so much of the country and we see it in a very vibrant and pertinent way,” he says.
The pair are preparing to take Through a Glass Onion to New York for a run off Broadway but say they want to revisit the show with Aussie audiences first.
“We definitely wanted to run the show in further, so we decided to go back and visit all our favourite places.”
Through a Glass Onion takes an emotional trip down memory lane with the life and times of John Lennon in words and music.
Its first performance was in 1992 and it has been touring Australia almost constantly since 2010.
Its 31 songs include A Day in the Life, Strawberry Fields Forever, Revolution, Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds, Woman, Jealous Guy and Imagine.
The show is not a cut-and-paste biography of Lennon but an exploration of the essence of the man through song and spoken word.
Waters shies away from imitating the artist, but lulls the audience into believing anything is possible.
Tickets to this month’s performances of Through a Glass Onion are on sale at www.miltontheatre.com.au
The Nowra performance will be July 18 at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre.
