“The Shoalhaven is blessed to have many natural assets worthy of the world- class recognition. However, due to a lack of development and promotion, many of our greatest attractions go almost completely unnoticed for all but the devotees of bushwalking. I well remember discovering and guiding others through some of these areas and it is well and truly time to share some of these secrets,” Cr Guile said.
“Other states and territories have always promoted their popular wilderness and adventure destinations. When you think of the Prom in Victoria, the Overland Track in Tasmania or the Larapinta Trail in the Territory; it stands to reason that the Shoalhaven is missing by comparison.”
Cr Guile foreshadowed a motion to go before the next council meeting that will call for a report from the general manager to identify Shoalhaven bushwalks that could be presented to the Great Walks program.
These should be walks that could benefit from funding, Cr Guile said.
