DESPITE the major hiccup which saw a venue change for the annual Shoalhaven/Nowra Relay For Life, the event proved to be a major success.
This year saw 125 teams, 1298 participants and as of Friday night, more than $147,579.15 raised for the Cancer Council in the fight to beat cancer.
The event was moved in just 48-hours from the Nowra Showground to the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre, but Shoalhaven/Nowra Relay For Life chair Kimberley McMahon-Coleman said everything ran smoothly.
“We were lucky enough to have such a fabulous committee who worked through the night to get everything organised,” she said.
Keeping to the relay’s traditions, the program of events had an opening ceremony and will also have a candlelight ceremony of hope and a closing ceremony before the relay concludes at 6.30pm.
