In bleak weather friends and family of Mr Wilkinson filled the North Nowra church to hear memories and tributes to a husband, father, grandfather and mate.
Civil celebrant Janine Angell, also a friend of Ken’s, led a moving service honouring the life led by the adventurous ex-serviceman.
Born June 7, 1948 in Chesterfield, England, Ken passed away on Sunday, March 16 aged 65 when the gyrocopter he was flying crashed at Brundee.
He was remembered as a unique character, a leader, a loveable larrikin, an adventurer and a true hero.
Poppies were laid on his casket, to remember his time spent as a gunner in the Vietnam War.
The Last Post rang out as homage to a fallen comrade.
Friends and family of Ken gathered after the service at his preferred watering hole, The Archer Hotel, to share stories and comfort one another.
