After dismissing North Nowra-Cambewarra for a modest 125 on day one at Hayden Drexel Oval, the home side led by captain David Sloane’s 60, amassed 268 from 56 overs, to have a healthy lead of 143 runs.
Everything went according to plan for Ex-Servos as the Norths top order was quickly back in the shed, and the scoreboard read 8/46 and then 9/64.
However at that point Alan Muggleton walked out to join fellow veteran Bob Ducie, and they produced a remarkable last wicket partnership of 82.
Ducie was unbeaten on 64 when Muggleton (21) was caught and bowled by James Spackman, but they had taken the total to 146 and there was no time for Ex-Servos to bat again.
Teammates speculated whether Muggleton had ever batted last in a senior match, but he proved he was still a force to be reckoned with, by featuring in a record 10th wicket partnership.
The previous record that had stood since 2003-04 was 73 put on by Matthew Bricklebank and Mitchell Neilsen against Bomaderry.
