The technology giant has announced that all technical assistance for the Windows XP operating system will end on April 8.
Microsoft recommends all users upgrade their machines to its latest version, Windows 8.1, or purchase a new computer with the new operating system pre-installed.
South Coast Computer Services owner Michael O’Connor said while there was no need to panic, computer owners using Windows XP should consider replacing it in the near future.
“It doesn’t mean in April your computer with XP will shut off, it means Microsoft will no longer support it with updates and the tech support will probably wind down,” Mr O’Connor said.
