Man attacked with axe

POLICE are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted with an axe in Nowra.

About 12.15am Saturday morning, a 20-year-old man was walking in a supermarket car park in Morton Parade, when he was approached by four men who asked for a cigarette.

The 20-year-old refused and they all became involved in an argument.

He ran away but the four men followed him and assaulted him.

He ran away again and managed to hide in a nearby unit.

Police from Shoalhaven Local Area Command arrived and saw the man had a large cut on his buttocks.

He believed he had been assaulted with a small axe.

The man was taken to Shoalhaven District Hospital for treatment.

There is no description of his assailants.
