The thefts have occurred during the night into early hours of the morning and in clusters over varying days.
Locations that have been targeted include the residential areas of Bomaderry, West Nowra, Huskisson and Culburra.
Police have responded by sending out additional officers to residential areas at night.
These officers have said they were amazed by the lack of effort residents have taken in relation to the security of vehicles and homes.
During patrols police have found unlocked cars with wallets visible and keys left inside as well as valuable items such as bikes and lawn mowers left on front lawns.
Shoalhaven Police have urged home and car owners to secure their property, remove items of value from vehicles, close garage doors and move and secure items of value out of view from front yards and from work vehicles.
