Joshua Chamberlain, 19, of McKay Street, Nowra and Wade Malcolm Dunley, 39, of Bunberra Street, Bomaderry were to appear in Nowra Local Court via video link on Tuesday but neither appeared before the court.
Bail was not applied for and was formally refused by Magistrate Susan McGowan.
They both face five charges, including aggravated assault with intent to rob with wounding grievous bodily harm; aggravated assault with intent to rob; reckless wounding; affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company.
Mr Beugels was attacked in North Nowra while on an evening walk on August 25.
