WE have passed the halfway point in the build now and are well on track for the auction in May. The GJ Variety Freedom house continues to progress according to the program with the sunny summer weather putting smiles on all of the subcontractors’ dials. Recently on site the plastering has been completed, the carpentry fix-out has been carried out which includes doors being hung and skirting boards and architraves being fixed in position.

This week the external eaves will be lined and the brickwork will have cement bagging applied. Prior to the tiler commencing on site the waterproofing will be completed to the bathrooms.
It is great to see that the majority of the funds raised from this project will remain in the local area.
An example of one of the local Variety projects that is happening right now in the Shoalhaven is the fitting of a wheelchair lift to one of the Sunshine Coaches for the Havenlee Special School. This will enable children in wheelchairs to be transported to and from school.
For this project, Variety has teamed up with Nowra Coaches which made a very significant donation towards the lift. Watch this space for details of when the presentation will take place.
You can follow the house’s progress and donate directly to aid its construction at this secure website: www.everydayhero.com.au/event/FreedomHouse.
This week we would like to thank Efficiency Assessments, FAW Electrical and Phil Jones Insulation for their contributions to the project.
