The NSW government is pitching in $12,000 for the Shoalhaven Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME) Bus project to provide transport for young
people.
“The AIME High Bus is designed to encourage young indigenous people in Shoalhaven to continue their education at school and tertiary level,” South Coast MP Shelley Hancock said.
“Currently, only 49 per cent of indigenous students complete year 12 as opposed to 81 per cent of non-indigenous students across Australia.
“The funding, from the Regional Transport Coordination Program, will be used to provide transport to help local youth get to the program from either school or home.”
The AIME High Bus project will begin next month.
