North Nowra-Cambewarra v Ulladulla United at Bernie Regan Sporting Complex
Ulladulla United have posted a first innings win over North Nowra – Cambewarra at Bernie Regan Sporting Complex after successfully chasing down the home side’s 154.
United started the second day of play at 3/42, and despite taking some quick wickets on Saturday North-Nowra couldn’t defend their total.
United added 17 runs to their total before Wes Holmes was caught short of the crease, run-out on 9 to put his side at 4/59.
It got worse soon after for the visitors, when United captain Harley Bell was removed on 13 by Hugh Gillen and United fell to 4/67.
Just as it looked like North - Nowra’s bowlers were taking control of the match, a 34 run stand between Matthew Gilkes and Joel Turner turned the match in United’s favour.
Turner fell on 12, removed by Luke Hogan, as United moved to 5/101.
The match was in the balance soon after when United lost two quick wickets, Gilkes stumped on 33 before Michael Devlin was gone leg before to Robert Webeck to leave United at 8/128.
United’s lower order showed some courage to see their side surpass the home side’s total as Nathan Bell and Peter King combined to get their side to 166 before Bell had to retire hurt on 14.
Blake Sommerville was dismissed for 1, leaving King 33 not out and United reaching 171 after 56 overs.
North-Nowra’s second inning proved more successful than their first as they reached 6/203 and prevented Ulladulla from claiming an outright win.
