Police said the woman asked the man what he was doing and he told her he was there to fix the alarm system.

However police discovered the man should not have been inside the premises.

They described the man as being of Caucasian appearance, 180cm tall, solid build, brown hair, unshaven and wearing a dark blue, short sleeve shirt and grey pants.

Police reminded the public to ensure their doors are locked even when they are at home. 

“By securing your home you significantly lower the risk of you and your family becoming victims of crime,” said a police spokesperson. 

“Burglary can have a serious impact on families and individuals in a number of different ways.”

Police are appealing to the public for any help in finding the intruder.
