The overbridge will be 350 metres long when completed and is made up of 16 segments, each 22 metres long, weighing an average of 460 tonnes.
Each bridge segment will travel on the railway line using a specialised launch technique to minimise impacts to traffic and the railway line.
The bridge is being built in the narrow corridor between the existing highway, Fern Street and the railway line.
Each segment of the bridge is being launched into place from the southern end with safety to be improved for all road users by removing the rail level crossing at Fern Street.
The highway upgrade is expected to be complete in the first half of 2015, weather permitting.
