Sanctuary Point: failed safe theft leaves major structural damage

January 8 2014 - 3:06pm

A BID to steal a safe from a pharmacy at Sanctuary Point has left the building with considerable damage. Nowra Police are searching for two men who attempted to steal the safe early Wednesday morning. Police were called to the rear of the Sanctuary Point pharmacy at 4.45am where they found a wall and balcony partially demolished after the thieves attempted to drag the safe out of the building. The attempted theft follows a similar incident in November when a safe was pulled through the front doors of the Ison Hardware store at Sanctuary Point at about 4.30am. That safe was then dragged behind the vehicle for about a kilometre down Sanctuary Point Road before the safe door opened. Police described the two vehicles seen at the Ison scene as a white 1996 Toyota Cruiser and a dark coloured station wagon. Investigations into both incidents are continuing.
