It might be the middle of summer but that’s no reason you can’t go ice skating in the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre.
The Ice Escape indoor ice skating rink is back by popular demand, only this year there is more on offer.
Retro nights, advanced skating sessions, season passes, free viewing passes and on Friday night the Ice Cube Dinner.
These are some of the new additions to the many events based around the rink from Thursday, January 9 until Saturday, January 25.
The ice is set and ready to take the first blades tomorrow from 9.15am.
Most of last year’s favourite events are back, including the under-18s ice skating disco, complete with DJ. The Saturday night movies and ice skating have returned and so has the popular Camp Chillin’ day care package from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre manager Bob Mangan said the idea was to offer people a wide range of ice-themed events.
“It’s about bringing people, friends and family together and having some fun on the ice,” he said.
“We’ve tried to add sessions to cater to everybody, including a wheelchair session.
“Our first big event is the Ice Cube Dinner – this is new and it’s only on this Friday.
“It’s a 45-minute retro-themed ice skating session followed by a two course dinner and two-hour beverage package. There’s a minimum booking of 10 people, so be quick to book a table. It’s a great way to catch up with family or friends.
“Last year’s Camp Chillin’ day care was sold out and bookings are already filling up for this year.
“So many people said their kids loved it that they have booked it again this year. There are only 20 positions per day, on Thursdays and Fridays.
“We have added Friday night Retro, which would suit people over 18 because of the genre of music, but anyone is welcome.
“Get together with some colleagues after work on Friday and come down for some fun.”
“If you’re not sure about ice skating, or just want to see what it looks like grab a free viewing pass from the box office and watch all the action on the ice.”
