After two weeks of free flowing traffic, the highway is once again becoming a car park as work on the final phase gets under way.
Scheduled lane closures are expected until Friday, January 10.
The final asphalt layer and line marking is under way between Central Avenue and Warra Warra Road.
Work is expected to cause delays, with an estimated maximum delay time of 45 minutes.
Where possible the contractor Nace will work without shutting two lanes. When double lane closures can’t be avoided, that work will be done at night between 8pm and 5am to minimise impact on traffic.
The work is expected to be finished in the next few months, while construction of a north bound break-down lane between Parma Road and Forest Road will be completed later in the year.
Minimum lane widths of 3.2 metres will be maintained in both directions. Oversize vehicles should contact the South Nowra project team prior to travelling through the South Nowra area to ensure adequate widths are available. Phone 4421 3222.
