After a tumultuous past running the rodeo, which included bad weather and Equine Influenza, the Nowra Rodeo was back on its feet again in 2010, only to take a break again in 2011 and 2012.
The rodeo was set to be held on Sunday, December 29, 2013 but due to lack of volunteer numbers, was delayed for another year.
Shoalhaven Rodeo Association’s Matthew Crossley said this year the funds were almost there, they just did not have enough man power to get it off the ground.
“The committee made the call, because when it came down to it, unfortunately we just didn’t have enough hands on deck,” he said.
But Crossley assured supporters of the Nowra Rodeo the event will definitely be run in 2014.
“In the meantime we are just trying to round up a few more friends and family to help us out and make it happen,” he said.
Over the last 30 years the Nowra Rodeo has donated tens of thousands of dollars to charity.
The committee is still looking for more helpers to get the rodeo back on in 2014.
