AN 18-year-old man was arrested at St Georges Basin on Saturday, December 21 at 2.30am after his Mitsubishi Lancer was pursued by police.
The man attempted to evade police after leaving a shopping centre car park off Island Point Road.
The driver reversed the car when police attempted to stop him, weaving around the police to get onto the road.
The car spun sideways as it attempted to make a right turn and then crossed to the wrong side of the road where it collided with a gutter and came to a stop.
The driver and passengers ran from police but the driver was caught and arrested in the backyard of a nearby house.
The man was taken to Nowra Police Station where he was later charged with being an unlicensed driver, driving in a dangerous manner, resisting arrest and for a previous assault.
He later appeared before the local court registrar and was granted conditional bail to appear at Nowra Local Court on January 6.
Police inquiries are continuing.
