Shoalhaven severe fire danger Friday

December 19 2013 - 4:56pm

A Total Fire Ban has been declared for the Shoalhaven for Friday 20 December due to forecast hot and windy conditions. The Total Fire Ban will commence at midnight tonight and remain in place until midnight Friday December 20. The Bureau of Meteorology has advised the Shoalhaven will have a Severe Fire Danger Rating. The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) advises that on a day with a Severe Fire Danger Rating, well prepared homes that are actively defended can provide safety during a fire. People should check their Bush Fire Survival Plan and monitor conditions. On a day of Total Fire Ban, no fires may be lit in the open. People should report any unattended fires to Triple Zero.
