CRIME rates for 10 categories of major offences recorded in the Shoalhaven have dropped in the 12 months leading up to June.

NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research reveal some of the major crime categories that have shown a downward trend include domestic assault, down to 436 incidents from 487 the previous year; non-domestic assault, down 513 from the previous year’s 595; break and enter dwelling was the largest drop with 577 incidents recorded to June this year down from the previous year’s 781.
Falls were also recorded in the categories of stealing from motor vehicle, stealing from retail store and stealing from dwelling.
However there was an increase in six categories with the highest being sexual assault at 102 recorded incidents up from the previous year’s 85.
Motor vehicle theft increased from 257 last year to 272 incidents this year.
Small increases were recorded in fraud and theft from a person.
