Shoalhaven were off to a slow start as they gave up an early 3-0 lead to the Chiefs.
Jayden Brain started the game well, striking out several Chiefs hitters.
Ethan Harpur was again brilliant at catcher, but very few plays were in the infield due to Brain’s dominant pitching.
Shoalhaven struggled to get their bats working early.
A tough and inconsistent strike zone had the Mariners guessing all game.
Ethan Scott-Branagan got on base, but was the only Mariner to get the far early in the match.
Robert Coleman was bought in to replace Brain after the second inning.
Coleman kept the game safe for the Mariners comeback.
Great and timely hitting by Andrew Pearson, Josh Scott-Branagan and Lucas Scott-Branagan allowed Shoalhaven to tie the game up late 4-all.
Lucas then held off the fast finishing Chiefs thanks to Brain’s fielding and Harpur’s catching.
The game ended in a draw.
Shoalhaven take on Cardinals Gold this Sunday, followed by Pirates on Tuesday.
