The GJ Variety Freedom House is a local project to create a stunning four-bedroom family home for Variety, the children’s charity. When the house is completed, in May 2014, it will be sold with the money going to support Variety’s work in the Shoalhaven. The home is at Meroo Views Estate in Bomaderry and the aim is that when it is auctioned about $200,000 will be raised.

The past two weeks has seen clear skies – perfect building weather. The timber wall frame and trusses arrived and the team from Woodchip Carpentry quickly swung into action. After the frames and roof trusses were erected, the windows, sliding doors and external door frames were installed. They had been fabricated and delivered to the site by Bradnam’s Windows & Doors.
Next, the team from Kiteley’s Roofing World arrived and began to fit the fascia and guttering. Now the Colorbond roof is almost complete. Next week the bricks are scheduled to be delivered and we look forward to seeing the bricklayers on site soon after. All in all, it’s been a solid start, with those working on the house inspired by the enthusiasm and generosity of all of the tradespeople and suppliers involved.
We have partnered with the organisation Everyday Hero to fund-raise for this project. You can follow the house’s progress and donate directly to aid its construction at the Everyday Hero website: www.everydayhero.com.au/event/FreedomHouse
This week we would like to thank Cross Excavations and Kiteley’s Roofing World for their contributions to the project.
