South Coast MP Shelley Hancock said this would improve road safety and travel times for motorists travelling through Nowra during the busy holiday period. It will also provide improved access to businesses in the area.
“The upgrade is progressing well given the project was delayed by more than four months when endangered green and golden bell frogs were found on and near the site,” Mrs Hancock said.
“Roads and Maritime Services is also continuing work on the new roundabouts at Warra Warra Road and Hillcrest Avenue and the off-road shared pedestrian and cycle path.
“The new pedestrian activated traffic lights at Park Road will be operational before Christmas. Work to remove the 40km/h school zone near Kinghorne Street will start in early 2014.
“Work to build the asphalt surface and landscaping will be carried out in early 2014 to complete the upgrade.”
