The final was the culmination of more than 8400 women competing at over 260 golf clubs across NSW in firstly club events then regional qualifying tournaments with 30 pairs qualifying to participate in the final. Due to other commitments Cheryl and Soo were unable to play a practice round on the very difficult Bonville layout and therefore had little expectation as far as winning was concerned.
Round one of the 36 hole 4BBB par event was played on Monday, November 25 and the Vincentia ladies had a good score of +2 which had them placed in seventh position, two points behind the three equal leaders.
On day two Cheryl and Soo had an outstanding +4 result, which was the equal best score of the day and their total of +6 elevated them to second place overall behind the Merewether team of Kelly Baldwin and Julie Johnston who had a total of +7.
The ladies had a great time over three days and made many friends from clubs as far afield as Condobolin, Narrabri, Thredbo, Albury, Tumut, The Lakes, Manly and Mangrove Mountain.
