After receiving a phone call from a resident who lives across from the Scout building on the corner of Shoalhaven and Jervis streets, Mr Smith checked out the clubhouse, the sight of which took his breath away.
The building is tagged all down one side.
The front of the building was also tagged.
“Some of these tags are distinctive and I hope police might know who did it,” Mr Smith said.
Some of the tagging has postcodes 2541 (Nowra) and 2768 possibly for the Glenwood, Parklea and Stanhope Gardens areas.
A spray can was left on the ground which was taken to local police for investigation.
“You have to question the mentality of some people. This is just pure vandalism,” Mr Smith said.
He said the people responsible should be made to fix the damage and also made to do something meaningful – like joining the Scouts.
Mr Smith was at the clubhouse on Monday evening and left at 6.45pm and thinks the attack was done after 8pm or early Tuesday morning.
He hopes witnesses will come forward and call Nowra Police on 4421 9699 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
As group vice president he will contact his fellow committee members to come up with a plan to clean up the building.
A community group had previously offered to paint the building.
If any group or individual can assist they should call Mr Smith on 4421 7015.
The group has a car boot sale this Sunday (November 3) and Mr Smith hoped the majority of the damage would be cleaned up by then.
