Despite terribly windy conditions, the morning tea fund-raiser for Nowra Presbyterian Women’s Association proved extremely popular with 175 people taking the opportunity to enjoy time in the one hectare property (2.5 acre) and its superb gardens that feature more than 1000 heritage roses, an extensive topiary nursery of hedging plants, a physics garden made up of plants with medical properties and a small lavender nursery.
Organiser Jeanice Coulthart was delighted with the number of guests despite the extreme wind that struck the region.
Guests were also given the opportunity to look inside the four-storey converted granary.
The former silo has been renovated into a stunning residence that has impressive views of the neighbouring farmland.
The 1000 Roses Beautiful Garden morning tea raised $2246 for the association.
This followed on from Merribee’s own open weekend last week which raised almost $660 for the Shoalhaven Cancer Centre and Linear Accelerator Appeal.
