THIEVES vandalised at least eight classrooms at Illaroo Road Public School during a break-in over the recent school holidays.
As well as vandalising the classrooms, the thieves gained entry to the school’s administrator’s block and the canteen.
It is believed the break-in occurred sometime between September 28 and September 29.
A Department of Education and Communities spokesperson confirmed the break-in, in which electrical equipment was stolen, while computers and interactive whiteboards were damaged.
The spokesperson said police had been notified and were investigating the incident.
“The thief broke into the school and vandalised the administrator’s block, the canteen and a number of classrooms,” the spokesperson said.
“Police have undertaken a thorough forensic investigation.”
DEC maintenance contractors are cleaning and repairing the damage throughout the school.
