THE two men charged with the vicious assault of North Nowra man Francois Beugels have been remanded in custody until November 19.
Joshua Chamberlain, 19, of McKay Street, Nowra and Wade Malcolm Dunley, 38, of Bunberra Street, Bomaderry both appeared in Nowra Local Court on Tuesday.
Chamberlain appeared via video link from Goulburn Correctional Centre, while Dunley also appeared via video link from Parklea Correctional Centre.
They both face five charges, including aggravated assault with intent to rob with wounding grievous bodily harm; aggravated assault with intent to rob; reckless wounding; affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company.
Bail was not applied for and was formally refused by magistrate Dr Gabrielle Fleming.
Seventy six-year-old Mr Beugels was the victim of an attack in North Nowra while on an evening walk on August 25.
Police allege the North Nowra resident was punched to the ground, had his head pushed into a concrete gutter, his wallet stolen and his head stomped on.
Chamberlain and Dunley were arrested the Thursday evening following the alleged attack after police made a number of public appeals for information into the incident.
Both men will face Nowra Local Court again on November 19.
