PLAYERS from Culburra Dolphins Junior Rugby League Football Club will be well equipped for another successful season after the club won a $5000 grant.
As part of a national grants program, grassroots NRL clubs had the opportunity to win one of 10 $5000 Home Timber & Hardware cash prizes to upgrade club facilities, purchase new equipment or improve their club in some way.
One of 30 finalists chosen nationally to be put to public vote, Culburra Dolphins JRLFC was among the 10 clubs to receive the highest number of votes on Home Timber & Hardware’s Facebook page.
Culburra Dolphins club president Anthony Couch said that winning a grant was a combined community effort and will help the club on its quest to support families that can’t afford registrations.
“The support of our community throughout this program has been outstanding. This grant means our players can continue to enjoy playing NRL with improved facilities and equipment,” said Couch.
“A big thanks also goes to our local Home Timber & Hardware store, Culburra Beach Timber & Hardware, who helped make this possible. Our players are eager to start the new season with new uniforms and equipment.”
Culburra Beach Timber & Hardware storeowner Andrew Hodgeson said he was pleased to hear the money would be put to great use in the Culburra area.
“It has been fantastic to see our community band together and support our local NRL club. There were hundreds of votes from local residents for Culburra Dolphins JRLFC which is indicative of their valued role in the community,” Hodgeson said.
