THE Worrigee Equestrian Common was alive with eager riders over the long weekend for Berry Public School’s sixth annual Equestrian Interschool Championship.
Over 200 riders from primary and high schools from Sydney to the southern border competed from Saturday to Monday in hacking, dressage, showjumping, versatility and sporting events.
The highlight of Saturday was the fancy dress competition for primary schools, where entrants themed themselves around the letter ‘R’.
Rapunzel, a runaway bride, a racecar driver and a raccoon were seen around the clubhouse, but it was Jye Howard-Coney from Shoalhaven Heads who really impressed.
Jy took out the fancy dress riding Lilly and dressed as Racing Stripes.
The overall champion secondary school was Frensham, with Oxley College taking out the reserve champion.
For the primary schools, St Paul’s Grammar School was the champion, closely followed by the reserve champion St Patrick’s Parish School.
