THE Nowra Cup was worth the wait for Cambewarra trainer Robert Price.
Price trained the first and second placed horses in the Kinghorn Motor Group Sky Racing Gold 2013 Nowra Cup which ran on Tuesday afternoon at the Shoalhaven City Turf Club’s Archer Racecourse.
The $30,000 race was originally supposed to be run in May, but was postponed because of a heavy track.
Ramsays Curse trained by Price and ridden by Yuseke Ichikawa powered home in the 1600 metre race to take first place in a time of 1.37.17, three-quarters of a length by a short half head in front of his second horse, Too Hi Tek.
The bay eight-year-old gelding has had 51 starts for 11 wins and claimed $186,000 in prizemoney.
The Kevin Berry trained Sailor’s Farewell ran third.
The $20,000 Kinghorn Ford 2013 Belle of the South was won by the Clarry Connors’ trained Recess in a time of 1.09.76, a class record for this event.
