SHOALHAVEN City Council has approved the $6 million motel in Tallwood Avenue, Mollymook.
The application put forward by Bannisters owner Peter Cosgrove was approved under delegation, and will see a modern motel and function room built along with additional public parking and associated infrastructure.
The motel will provide 25 rooms, a landscaped forecourt, function room and paved roof top terrace over two levels.
Shoalhaven Mayor Joanna Gash said the development would complete the Tallwood Avenue commercial area with the motel to be located next to the recently expanded Mollymook shopping precinct.
“The development of a further modern motel in Mollymook will provide a tremendous ongoing boost to the local economy,” Cr Gash said.
“With the facility boasting a top class, modern function room capable of hosting events and seminars throughout traditional off peak areas, the addition of another motel will increase visitation to this spectacular part of the South Coast.
“This is a very exciting period for Shoalhaven City with a number of larger developments either recently approved or currently under assessment.”
“This surge of applications is a further example of a renewed confidence exhibited by the business industry in developing major projects within the city.”
