POLICE were forced to evacuate homes in Sanctuary Point on Saturday afternoon after a man broke an apprehended violence order.
At around 3pm police received information the 22-year-old was inside a granny flat in Auster Crescent.
Police said the man is well-known to them and alleged he had a history of violence involving weapons and explosives.
They set up a perimeter around the premises and cleared people from neighbouring homes.
Police began negotiating with the man and at 6pm he surrendered without incident.
He was taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with breaching an AVO.
The man was bailed to appear in Nowra Local Court on October 4.
