THE Shoalhaven Men of Sport Calendar’s night of nights is just three weeks away with the calendar to be launched at the Bomaderry Bowling Club on Friday, October 18.
With the calendar production now finalised, organisers are focused on ensuring that the night is a great success for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, its chosen charity for the year.
Already the Shoalhaven Men in Sport Calendar Inc. has raised over $4000 through its online fund-raising page with many individuals and businesses in the community generously supporting it.
The fund-raiser held by Paul Mackie at Angel’s Bayside Cafe in Huskisson raised $1890 in one afternoon and the committee would like to publicly thank all who were involved in this event.
It was a great afternoon full of laughs, fantastic food and music and proprietor Michael Stahlhut, his family and staff are congratulated on this wonderful initiative.
The calendar launch night has as its special guest rugby league legend Michael Cronin.
Almost all of the calendar men will be in attendance and the “making of” DVD will this year feature an amazing interview with local artist Jillian Naidu, who lost her husband to cancer six years ago.
This interview was conducted by South Coast Register journalist Gillian Lett. Naidu’s involvement in the calendar originated when a request was made to include some of her artwork that was on display at the Shoalhaven City Arts Centre in a photo shoot with one of the athletes.
Aside from this serious side, the DVD also takes a light-hearted look at some of the funny moments that occurred during the photo shoots, plus the many photos taken that you would otherwise not get to see.
Sales of this, as well as the calendar, all go towards increasing the total that the committee can donate to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
Sales of the calendar will also help deliver the most important message regarding the necessity of routine testing for men and check-ups when symptoms do occur.
