TWO Shoalhaven drivers badly injured in an accident at Bewong on Tuesday, September 17, were known to each other.
Both residents of Ulladulla, Georgia Ewin and Keith Bonser knew each other from their involvement in a local tennis club.
Happily, the pair was this week reported to be recovering well following the accident, which occurred on the Princes Highway between Bewong and Wandandian.
Both drivers were this week moved out of intensive care in Sydney’s St George Hospital and into wards.
Both suffered severe leg and chest injuries when Georgia’s north-bound white Toyota sedan and Keith’s south-bound Toyota four-wheel-drive collided at about 7.55am.
At the time of the accident 17-year-old Georgia was heading to school at St John the Evangelist Catholic High School in Nowra, and Keith was returning home to Ulladulla from work at HMAS Albatross.
Since the accident, Georgia, better known to friends simply as Gee, has been keeping family and friends up to date on her condition through social media.
And she showed her injuries had done nothing to quell her sense of humour, posting photographs of her injured legs and reassuring friends she would be showing off the scars during the school formal in coming weeks.
Keith and Georgia know each other well through the Milton Ulladulla District Tennis Association, where Keith was recently elected president, Georgia is a member, and her mother Leanne is a life member.
